I have been using these a few weeks now and they just came off to be sharpened. They were dull but not any duller than a far more expensive replacement set from the dealer. They are a good quality fit and sharp right out of the box. The material is probably the same as the more expensive blades I figure. Definitely a decent price for a replacement!
We finally got these GICool blades installed on our 22 year old riding mower. It is a Craftsman with a 48 inch deck. These blades fit on our mowing deck perfectly. (Getting the deck reinstalled on the mower was the hard part) These blades have a 5 point star mounting hole so be sure to check what type of hole your blades have before ordering these. They have this black paint or some sort of coating on them when the come new in the package. I don't know if that is to protect the edge during shipment or to protect your hands when installing the bladed. It does wear off after use though and the edges do get exposed. They are sharp after this coating wears off so we think they were coated to protect your hands during installation. They seem to be made of high quality steel material and we expect.them to be durable.They may outlast the rest of the life of the mower. We don't use the mower a lot to mow because we have a couple of small goats but they are picky eaters and when stuff gets a little overgrown in the pasture we like to mow it. We are much happier using the riding mower with these new blades. The old blades were really dull. This set of three blades cost lest than the time it would have take us the remove rust from the old blades, sharpen them and reinstall them - it they had been worth the effort. So for us, they were a great value.
